with the first subdivision in “Sunny Slope”,  planned by William R. Norton back in 1911.  This forty-acre area from Dunlap south to Alice, and Central to Third Street had a total of 192 lots each 50 feet wide and 125 feet deep, with a 15-foot alley.  

Today, Sunnyslope has a vibrate community that continues from this rich and diverse legacy.

Founded in 1989, Sunnyslope Historical Society’s mission is to preserve its past for its future through researching, collecting, preserving, and sharing the history of this intriguing community many have called home.  As a non-profit 501(c)3 the Society with its members and volunteers also operate a community museum & archive, maintains a research library, and hosts several events, special exhibits and programs throughout the year in support of its goals.
